$1 Billion in Funding Available for Resilience and Disaster Mitigation Projects!
The Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities (BRIC) program offers grants to identify and implement mitigation actions that reduce the risks posed by natural hazards. This initiative promotes partnerships to facilitate high-impact investments, encourages the adoption and enforcement of codes and standards for community-wide risk reduction, and aims to minimize disaster losses while safeguarding lives and property against future disasters.
Funding Overview
Type and Cost Share:
BRIC operates as a grant with a 75% federal and 25% state/local cost-sharing arrangement, but small and impoverished communities may benefit from a 90% federal and 10% state/local match. Non-federal cost-sharing can comprise cash, donated services, third-party in-kind contributions, materials, or a combination thereof. FEMA encourages creative use of public and private-sector partnerships to meet the non-federal cost share.
