Municipalities Can now apply to RECEIVE up to $250k per project to transform public spaces in response to covid-19
The Healthy Communities Initiative encourages community-level innovation and improvements in the quality of life for residents. As local communities continue to adapt to COVID-19, local governments and community partners across the country in urban, rural and remote communities are discovering new ways to keep residents safe and healthy, support economic recovery and rebuild communities to be pandemic-resilient. For this new municipal funding program, the minimum funding amount for projects is $5,000 and the maximum funding amount is $250,000 for each project.

Eligible Activities:
- Creating safe and vibrant public spaces
- Projects that create or adapt existing public places such as parks, main streets, and indoor spaces that encourage safe cultural or physical activities, and local commerce
- Improving mobility options
- Projects that permit physical distancing through permanent or temporary changes that make it easier for people to get around in their communities, whether walking, biking, accessing public and private transit, or other modes of transportation
- Digital solutions
- Innovative digital projects that address changing community needs through the use of data and connected technologies
