Connecting Communities B.C. is designed to address connectivity gaps, particularly in rural, remote, and Indigenous communities by supporting infrastructure projects that deliver reliable, high-speed internet. The program primarily targets regions currently unable to access minimum speeds of 50 Mbps download and 10 Mbps upload, aligning with national broadband standards.
With six previous intakes completed between September 2022 and October 2025, CCBC continues to propel the province toward universal broadband access through strategic investments and ongoing project approvals. Successful applications from previous rounds will continue to be announced as they move through the approval process.
The program is open to a wide range of eligible applicants across the province, including:
Municipalities
First Nations communities
Indigenous organizations
Internet service providers
Other entities capable of deploying broadband infrastructure
Applicants must demonstrate their ability to deliver high-speed internet infrastructure in areas that remain underserved, with priority given to regions that fall below the 50/10 Mbps threshold.
Under the seventh intake, eligible applicants may receive up to 90% of eligible project costs. This high level of cost-share support significantly reduces the financial barriers that often prevent connectivity projects from moving forward in smaller or remote communities.
Projects will be evaluated on a rolling basis, encouraging early submissions and enabling faster approval timelines for strong, well-aligned proposals.
Reliable high-speed internet is no longer a luxury, it is essential for:
Economic development
Workforce participation
Access to remote healthcare
Education and skills training
Emergency response and public safety
Cultural and community connectivity
By supporting infrastructure development in underserved areas, Connecting Communities B.C. is laying the groundwork for stronger, more resilient, and more inclusive communities across the province.
The seventh intake remains open until February 26, 2026. With applications reviewed as they are received, organizations considering a submission are strongly encouraged to begin planning now.
