Agropur is constructing a state-of-the-art cheesemaking facility in Little Chute, Wisconsin
With $7.7 billion in sales, Agropur has become the fifth largest producer of cheese and dairy ingredients in the United States and one of the 20 largest dairy processors in the world. The new 210,000 square-foot facility will allow Agropur to increase its production capacity for cheese and ingredients and ensure flexible growth potential. The $168 million investment is the second largest ever made by Agropur in the United States, following the expansion of the Lake Norden, South Dakota plant in 2018.
Agropur processes more than 6.6 billion litres of milk annually in its 32 plants, with 6 billion litres of milk processed in its nine plants in the United States alone. The new plant will increase Agropur’s demand for milk—most of which is purchased from farms within a 40-mile radius of the facility. The plant’s milk needs are expected to grow from about 300 million to 750 million pounds annually. Agropur anticipates spending nearly $60 million more per year on Wisconsin milk.
