The Walpole-Algonac Ferry service has been in operation for over 100 years. Operating out of the historic Walpole Island First Nation in Ontario, the ferry crosses the St. Clair River to Algonac, Michigan, USA.
The ferry service understands the importance of utilizing available grant programming and counts on GrantMatch to research, identify, and secure government funding on their behalf.
With the help of GrantMatch, Walpole-Algonac Ferry Ltd. secured funding through the Canada Ontario Job Grant (COJG) for a ferry captain training program. The COJG provides direct financial support to employers who wish to provide training for their employees. It is available to small, medium, and large businesses with a plan to deliver short-term training to existing and new employees. The Walpole-Algonac Ferry employs a skilled staff of captains and operators. Investing in this workforce is a must, and government grant funding has made it more affordable.
