- "Career-Only" fire departments ineligible for the Recruitment & Retention stream (exclusive to Volunteer and Combination staffed departments).
- "Hire" stream open to all types of departments.
- Career departments can apply for funding for retention of existing staff members at risk of imminent lay-off within the next 120 days.
