The National Research Council of Canada Industrial Research Assistance Program (NRC IRAP) assists small and medium-sized Canadian businesses through advisory services and funding support to increase their innovation capacity. Project funding of up to $150,000 is typically awarded; although larger projects are approved on occasion.

Eligible Applicants
- Must be an incorporated, profit-oriented small or medium-sized business in Canada
- Must have 500 or fewer full-time equivalent employees
- Must be planning to pursue growth and profit by developing and commercializing innovative, technology-driven new or improved products, services or processes in Canada
Eligible Activities
- Product prototyping, development, or enhancements
- Supply chain diversification
- IP (internet protocol) assessments, planning, and strategy development
- New technology/ market feasibility studies; and Advanced technology adoption and adaptation
