This program offers two key streams:

1. NHC Capacity Building Program

Maximum Funding: Up to $200,000 | Funding Type: Capacity Building Support

Purpose: The Capacity Building stream assists local governments, First Nations, and non-profit organizations by supporting the costs associated with human resources and operational capacity. This enables organizations to meet growing service demands resulting from large-scale economic projects.

Eligible Applicants:

  • Local governments

  • Indigenous communities and organizations

  • Registered non-profit organizations in northern B.C.

Eligible Activities:

  • Hiring staff to manage increased workloads related to economic growth

  • Expanding services such as health care, housing, and social services

  • Supporting operational costs for service delivery

2. NHC Capital Program

Maximum Funding: Up to $300,000 | Funding Type: Capital Infrastructure Support

Eligible Applicants:

  • Local governments

  • Indigenous communities and organizations

  • Registered non-profit organizations in northern B.C.

Eligible Activities:

  • Construction of new community facilities

  • Expansion or renovation of existing infrastructure

  • Capital upgrades that support essential services like health, housing, and recreation
