Up to $150,000 in Grant Funding Available to Businesses part of Ontario’s Automotive Supply Chain

The Ontario Automotive Modernization Program (O-AMP) is a key initiative under Ontario’s Driving Prosperity auto strategy, designed to help small- and medium-sized automotive parts suppliers modernize their operations, improve competitiveness, and strengthen their position in the global supply chain.

Program Overview

Purpose:
O-AMP helps Ontario-based automotive parts suppliers invest in new technologies and process improvements that support modernization and innovation. The goal is to drive productivity, boost competitiveness, and help companies integrate into global supply chains.

Funding Details:

  • Cost-sharing model: Up to 50% of eligible project costs

  • Maximum contribution per project: $150,000

  • Applicant contribution: At least 50% of total eligible project costs

  • Funding is non-repayable (grant)

Who Can Apply?

To be eligible for O-AMP, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Be a small- or medium-sized business (SME) with fewer than 500 employees in Ontario

  • Generate less than $1 billion in annual revenue

  • Operate an established production facility in Ontario

  • Be a supplier to the automotive industry (e.g., Tier 1, 2, or 3 suppliers)

Eligible Activities

Projects should focus on improvements that modernize operations and contribute to business growth. Examples include:

  • Technology adoption: Automation, robotics, Industry 4.0 technologies

  • Lean manufacturing implementation: Process optimization and waste reduction

  • Tooling and equipment upgrades: To increase efficiency or product quality

  • IT solutions: ERP systems, quality assurance software

  • Skills development and training related to modernization initiatives

Ineligible Activities

Some examples of ineligible expenses include:

  • Regular maintenance or repair of existing equipment

  • Working capital and operational expenses not tied to modernization

  • Costs incurred before project approval
