Youth Employment Skills Program

The Youth Employment and Skills Program (YESP) aims to support the agriculture sector in providing funds to hire youth and youth with barriers to help in the completion of projects related to the agriculture and agri-food sector. Eligible projects under this program may have started as early as April 15, 2021, and must be complete by March 31, 2022

$14,000 in Funding Support is Available to  Hire Youth within the Agriculture Industry 

The Youth Employment and Skills Program (YESP) aims to support the agriculture sector by providing funds to hire youth and youth with barriers to help complete projects related to the Agriculture and Agri-food sector. Eligible projects under this program may have started as early as April 15, 2021, and must be completed by March 31, 2022



Eligible Applicants

To be considered, the employer must:

  • Be an agricultural related organizations such as:
    • Farmers
    • Food processors
    • Agricultural related non-governmental organizations (NGOs)
  • Organizations must offer opportunities that will give youth agriculture career-related work experiences and skills in Canada


Eligible Costs 

Costs considered to be eligible through this funding opportunity include: 

  • Salaries and benefits
    • Cell phone costs
    • Travel expenses
    • Vacation pay
  • Relocation costs

Funding Details

  • Each project is eligible to receive up to $14,000 in matching funds
  • An additional $5,000 in funding is available to offset the costs of employee relocation or to offset the costs of barriers faced by youth
