Energy Efficiency Impact Grant - West Virginia

The West Virginia Development Office is administering funding to support county or multi-county economic development efforts through a matching grant program; the Local Economic Development Grant. The purpose of this program is to enhance the capacity of local economic development by undertaking economic development activities and to complete Certified Development community (CDC) program requirements.

Funding Assistance Available to Small Businesses Making Energy Efficiency Upgrades

A partnership between the Jackson County Development Authority and West Virginia Office of Energy, the West Virginia Energy Efficiency Impact Grant is allocating funds to assist small businesses in making energy efficiency upgrades to their business. Twelve grants will be issued in the first round of funding.

 

Eligible Projects

Eligible energy efficiency upgrades include:

  • Installation of insulation
  • Installation of energy efficient lighting
  • HVAC upgrades (to existing systems)
  • Weather sealing
  • The purchase and installation of ENERGY STAR appliances (includes but not limited to, furnaces and air conditioners)

 

Eligible Applicants

In order to be eligible for this program, a business must:

  • Be a registered business in good standing with the State of West Virginia
  • Have a physical establishment within the state
  • Business must have been established on or before May 1, 2019
  • Have no more than 15 full-time employees (as of April 1, 2020)
  • Generate $1M or less in profits in 2019
  • Have no pre-existing tax liens or legal judgements

 

Funding Details

  • Successful applicants will receive a one-time award of $3,000 
  • Awards are limited to one per business entity/owner
