Up to $2.5M in Grant Funding Available to Food Processors with Operations in Manitoba

The province of Manitoba is offering to assist in funding projects that help agri-processors and industry service providers with capital investments that support enhanced efficiency, productivity, and environmental sustainability.

Eligible Recipients

  • Agri-Processors: Agri-food and agri-product processors and abattoirs involved in value-added activities to produce or package products for market
  • Industry Service Providers: Food distributors and licensed commercial kitchens

Funding Amounts

  • For projects under $1M, funding is available to cover up to 25% of eligible expenses, to a maximum of $50,000 per fiscal year or $100,000 over the life of the program

  • For projects over $1M, funding is available to cover up to 25% of the first $100,000 of eligible expenses, and 10% of expenses over the first $100,000, to a maximum contribution of $2.5M

Eligible Activities Include:

  • New and innovative technology
  • Process automation
  • Production scale-up
  • Addition of equipment incremental to current operations
  • Skill development and training
  • Major expansion projects, including those that address environmental sustainability, such as wastewater treatment

Deadline

  • For projects under $1M - applications for the next intake will be received beginning May 3, 2021, until 11:59 p.m. CST on June 1, 2021
  • For projects over $1M, applications are received on a continual basis subject to funding availability
