Up to $1.25 Million Available for Indigenous Tourism Enhancement

The Signature Indigenous Tourism Experiences Stream (SITES) aims to bolster Indigenous tourism by funding projects that serve as pivotal tourism experiences. By anchoring other tourism-related businesses and offerings, these projects will foster the development of tourism destinations.

The program seeks to increase the supply of Indigenous tourism offerings, attracting high-yield international tourists interested in cultural experiences. Ultimately, this growth in the tourism sector will not only boost revenue for Indigenous businesses but also stimulate economic growth by nurturing networks of smaller, locally-owned businesses. Moreover, SITES aligns with the Government of Canada's reconciliation efforts with Indigenous Peoples.

Funding INformation

SITES, a component of the Indigenous Tourism Fund, has allocated $10 million in non-repayable contributions for the 2024–2025 period. Funding for selected projects will range from $500,000 to $1.25 million.

Can anchor a tourism destination
