CanExport is a funding program designed to promote and enhance Canada’s trade diversification efforts. It offers grants and contributions to Canadian companies to help them prepare for and establish a presence in international markets where they currently have little or no sales. The CanExport program is also designed to promote and enhance Canada’s international innovation efforts. The program offers grants and contributions to Canadian organizations to assist them in establishing and formalizing new collaborative research and development (R&D) partnerships with foreign partners.

The Rural Economic Development (RED) program aims to support rural communities in Ontario by opening doors to rural economic development. This program is a cost-sharing grant that advocates for activities that promote strong rural communities in Ontario.

The BC Manufacturing Jobs Fund, a new initiative by the Government of B.C., will allocate up to $90 million over a period of three years to support high-value industrial and manufacturing projects. These projects aim to promote clean and inclusive growth in rural, remote and Indigenous communities. The BC Manufacturing Jobs Fund will assist established for-profit organizations in planning and implementing shovel-ready projects that will provide direct benefits and stable, family-sustaining employment opportunities to regional and Indigenous communities.

Funding Overview

The Supply Management Processing Investment Fund (SMPIF) helps processors of supply-managed commodities adapt to market changes resulting from the implementation of the Canada-European Union Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) and the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP).

The GICB Program provides up to $25,000,000 for building new or retrofitting existing community buildings.

The Government of British Columbia is investing $33 million to establish the Rural Economic Diversification and Infrastructure Program (REDIP). The REDIP offers three program streams, Economic Diversification, Economic Capacity and Forest Impact Transition, to assist local governments in transitioning and diversifying their local economies.
