Hot New Programs

The My Main Street Community Activator program aims to invigorate communities in southern Ontario by supporting high-impact placemaking projects. These projects are designed to enhance local vibrancy, draw visitors, and foster inclusive spaces. Through non-repayable contributions of up to $250,000, the program empowers eligible organizations to reimagine public spaces, from main streets to downtown areas, fostering economic and social renewal.

The Travel Alberta Investment Program aims to foster innovation, sustainability, and economic growth within Alberta's tourism industry. Each program stream listed below has specific eligibility criteria, funding ranges, priorities, and eligible expenses tailored to different stages of business development and tourism offerings.

Apply for a Capital grant to help improve the infrastructure your community needs to thrive through the Ontario Trillium Foundation. Whether it’s purchasing equipment, building a new space, completing renovations, retrofits or repairs, Capital grants offered through the OTF support projects that will positively impact your community.

Projects that are supported will 

• Improve access to community spaces, facilities, programs, activities and services, and facilitate community members’ full participation in the life of the community
• Improve and build community spaces
• Make programs and services better and more efficient
• Make better use of technology

Organizations can request funding for multiple capital improvements within one facility, e.g., touchless entry and widening of doorways at local community centre, or they can request funding for the same capital improvements at multiple facilities, e.g., HVAC retrofits at 3 municipal arenas.

As Ontario strives to achieve its ambitious goal of building at least 1.5 million homes by 2031, the province is taking significant steps to support growing communities and upgrade essential infrastructure. One crucial initiative on this journey is the Housing-Enabling Water Systems Fund, designed to provide municipalities with the resources they need to construct critical water infrastructure. This fund, along with the broader capital plan for infrastructure development, is poised to bring a positive change in Ontario's landscape, ensuring that infrastructure is built for today and generations to come.

The Low Carbon Economy Fund (LCEF) has recently opened applications for the Low Carbon Economy Challenge (LCEF-LCEC), an initiative aimed at harnessing Canadian ingenuity to combat greenhouse gas emissions and foster sustainable growth. This endeavour is aligned with Canada's clean growth and climate action plan, as outlined in the Pan-Canadian Framework on Clean Growth and Climate Change.

Local and Indigenous governments in British Columbia are invited to participate in the Active Communities Grants program, an initiative aimed at bolstering access to physical activity within their communities. This program is a vital component of the broader effort to promote public health, prevent chronic diseases, and enhance the well-being of individuals both physically and mentally.

 

With a focus on inclusivity, local needs, and cultural considerations, the Active Communities Grants program, administered by the BC Alliance for Healthy Living Society (BCAHL), has allocated $1.5 million in funding to support community projects that break down barriers to physical activity and encourage active living.

The New Construction of Energy Efficient Facilities - Capital (NCEEF-C) program aims to support Canadian communities to implement projects that propose to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. This combination of loan and grant funding is designed for capital projects that will create transformative change in the energy, transportation, waste, water, and/or land use sectors. 

Proposed projects submitted to FCM-NCEEF-Capital will be highly innovative and impactful, and have the potential to address environmental challenges. This funding opportunity intends to support projects that target net-zero energy performance in new municipal facilities. This may include but is not limited to administration buildings, police stations and fire halls, recreation centres and arenas, and wastewater treatment plants.

The Agricultural Water Infrastructure Program will help the sector in adapting to climate change by providing incentives for the sector to invest in water infrastructure for adaptation.

The Agricultural Water Infrastructure (AWI) Program is a three-year, up to $20M program, with funding by the Government of BC through the Ministry of Agriculture & Food. The program is delivered by IAF. Through the program, primary and Indigenous Producers, conservation groups, water purveyors and Indigenous Communities will have access to cost-shared funding to adapt to climate change by investing in water infrastructure.
